extension has been changed, there is
now an internal height of 215 cm, while
Iveco also says the internal width of the
lower bunk is now symmetrical. The
driver can now choose which end they
wish to sleep, and all the controls are in
the middle. The truck can also be locked/
unlocked from the bunk.
There is a choice of two upper bunks.
One is for regular sleeping use and is
70 cm wide and 10 cm thick; the other is
for occasional use or use as a shelf,
which is 60 cm wide and 8 cm thick. The
upper bunk has two catches, both of
which need to be pressed to allow it to
lower – and as they are at extreme ends,
you need to have a wide arm span to

also gives better security, as it is harder
for intruders to climb up to look inside
the cab. It also means drivers can take
their boots off and store them on a cab
step even when the truck is on the move,
so they don’t dirty the carpets.
Outside there are up to four external
lockers depending on spec, which give a
total capacity of 375 litres. The bottom
locker is 58 litres (up from 52 litres on
the Stralis) and opens with a vertical
flap, while the top locker (130 litres)
opens with a horizontal door. Both are
opened by catches close to the door,
which must be opened to use them.

achieve it. Some drivers may struggle
with this.
The seat base is also reduced in
height, and this has allowed the cushion
on the seat to be made thinker for added
comfort. The cupboard volume has been
increased 20 per cent to 270 litres. There
are two side pockets on each side of the
enlarged roof section, and an enlarged
roof hatch.

Further refinements
Other features include better lighting for
the driver in all conditions, while there
is an optional pull-out table for the
passenger side for use when eating or
supporting a laptop while parked.
More buttons have been moved onto
the steering wheel to allow the driver to
perform more functions without having
to take their hands off the wheel. The
trucks use an electronic key with a stop/
start button.
S-WAY has a 7 inch infotainment
touch screen with DAB radio and the
speakers have been repositioned for the
benefit of the driver. It is Bluetooth
connected, naturally.
Following the precedent set by DAF,
there is the option of the new Safety
Lock to give added security from
unwanted intruders trying to force open
the doors when the driver is parked.
The cab doors are extended
downwards to cover the middle and top
of the side three steps. This improves
aerodynamics, which saves fuel – but it

The trucks conforms to ECE 29.03
standard and the front axle has been
fine-tuned to reduce braking distances of
15 per cent in the event of an emergency
brake application.
The new trucks offer the driver improved
direct visibility with the one-piece side
windows and rear-view mirrors. Also
featured are the Advanced Driver Assistance
Systems to help the driver operate the
vehicle efficiently and safely while reducing
fatigue on the road.
A new integrated parking cooler does
away with the previous roof-top pods to
provide improved air conditioning, which is
not only more energy-efficient than a
dealer-installed kit alternative, but also
has no impact on the vehicle’s
aerodynamic performance.
