Dresden files
Looks like Brian Yeardley’s
TRUCKINGBY event transport drivers
are having a decent time of it this
summer. This post from boss Kevin
Hopper (@bycl1975) shows six of the
operator’s trucks parked up outside a
spectacular venue in Dresden,
Germany ahead of a Neil Young
performance. Not a bad gig,
we reckon.
What a motor!
Sean Taylor’s striking F1-themed
Scania is a bit of a beast, so we were
probably as surprised as he was to find
the truck being passed by an RV of all
things. But this is no ordinary
motorhome! In Sean’s own words:
“Not often my V8 gets passed, but
when the legend that is @jm130tt
[motorbike racer John McGuinness]
is on ya back door and gaining, you
just gotta sit back and salute that
incredible RV. What a motor!”

Needs a nappy

Couldn’t help but chuckle when we
saw this pic, posted on Facebook
page Smashed Lorries Past & Present.
The photo is too low-res to be sure if
the car owner (we’re assuming the
bloke in the blue coat) is pleased
with his new customised bonnet, but
at least it’ll protect the paintwork
from chipping...

We featured Tony Starmer in our
#proudprofessionals Ambassador
interview last issue, in which he told us
about his job, his thoughts on the
industry, and his Renault Magnum. Soon
after we went to press, a picture of his
truck turned up on Facebook – and it’s
one of the tidiest Magnums we’ve seen in
a long while!
Truck racers survive
70 mph head-on
collision
Link: http://bit.ly/Thruxton-crash
Dash cam footage of a serious
collision between two vehicles in the
final Division 2 truck race at Thruxton
has surfaced on YouTube. Shortly
after the start of the race, Paul Rivett,
who was in second position, lost
control of his truck and spun 180
degrees – right into the path of
Steven Powell, who was following
closely behind. Powell was unable to
take evasive action and slammed
into the front of Rivett’s truck at
around 70 mph. Luckily, neither
driver was hurt and both continued
to race – but Rivett’s windscreen was
shattered and he was left well behind
the leaders after the collision.
