started business in Glenkindie,

rural Aberdeenshire, in 1976.

James Riddell originally formed

the company and, as this is a

family firm, it should come as no

surprise that the rest of the extended

family work in various roles within the

business. James’ two sons – Gordon,

who is the managing director, and

John, the transport manager –

registered the firm as a private limited

business in 1999, and they have grown

its success ever since.

The business has recently moved

from its original premises in

Glenkindie and now operates out of

Alford in Aberdeenshire. It also has

J&G Riddell reckon they

own the UK’s only

Scania T-cab R730 – and

the story of its rebuild is

as astonishing as the

truck itself
