Bellshill, Glasgow.
They operate a fleet of 24 vehicles,
which comprises 20 Scania and four
Volvo tractor units. Two of the trucks
are wagon-and-drags, while four are
equipped with wood cranes. The
company operates around 85 trailers
in total.
J&G Riddell’s work mainly consists
of timber haulage from Scottish forests
to sawmills all over the UK. They also
undertake general haulage jobs within
the steel works industry near Glasgow,
where they distribute steel pipe and
other steel products to the oil industry.
On top of this, they also do work for
various engineering companies.
The Scanias in the firm’s fleet are all
V8s, and the company also runs some
Blue Stream V8 730 tag-axles. T-cabs
also have a presence in Riddell’s
line-up, and these have been specified
to carry out most of the forest
timber haulage.
The Volvos are mostly used for
general haulage, but they are used on
some timber work from time to time.
