The star-studded opus marks the best weekend opening of
Quentin Tarantino’s career after narrowly passing Inglourious
Basterds ($38.1 million), not adjusted for inflation. The big
question now is whether a B CinemaScore will hurt its playability.

It took eight tries, but the latest outing in Sony’s marquee super-
hero series is the first to join the billion-dollar club at the global
box office, not adjusted for inflation. It’s only the second Sony
release ever to achieve the milestone behind Bond pic Skyfall.

Lulu Wang’s dramedy, starring Awkwafina, has steadily become an
indie hit. It cracked the top 10 despite only playing in 135 the-
aters. A24 — also home of Midsommar — will continue upping the
cinema count in the coming weeks.

its first three episodes and impressive

audience, the NBC comedy com-

petition proves to be the strongest

summer freshman.

The Gina Torres-led Suits spinoff

scores a solid debut on USA —

retaining 63 percent of the lead-in

from the original, which is in the

midst of its swan-song season.

You,” Shawn Mendes

posts two songs

in the Hot 100’s

top 10 concurrently

for the first time

in the 20-year-old
