...River Deep, Mountain
High. On Ullswater in the
Lake District, Patterdale
Mountain Rescue deploys
its high-speed boat to race
across the UK’s second
longest lake to help a man
with a broken leg. And the
dedication of the Kinder
Mountain Rescue team in
the Peak District is shown
as the volunteers abandon
their romantic Valentine’s
night plans to hunt for a
couple lost on a snowy and
freezing night. HHHJL

Puss in Boots

● FILM / 3.10pm / Film4

After charming audiences
in Shrek 2, Puss in Boots
gets his own film with this
animated swashbuckler
that sees the talking cat
head off on a quest to
restore his honour and
track down the magic
beans that lead to golden
eggs. Puss is charmingly
voiced in knowingly
roguish style by Antonio
Banderas, who is currently
starring in Pedro
Almodóvar’s latest, Pain
and Glory. HHHHTE

Mortimer and Whitehouse:

Gone Fishing

● FACTUAL / 8pm / BBC2

NEW

This delightful unscripted
series, in which old pals Paul
Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer chew the
fat while fishing in picturesque locations,
returns tonight. Paul is the more experienced
angler, while Bob cooks healthy food –
both have had heart problems – and sorts

out accommodation. This week, they’re
fly-fishing in Wales, where a young Paul
caught his first trout while fishing with his
dad. There’s great chemistry between them,
as they go from philosophical to downright
silly, and great scenery, too. HHHH IM

● COMEDY / 9pm / BBC1

NEW

Poor Edith (Alison Steadman)!
As the second run of the offbeat
comedy begins, not only is she still having
to indulge her man-child son Roger (Jason
Watkins), who is now busking, she’s also
trying to keep boyfriend Phil (John Cleese)
calm as he struggles to sell his house. Smarmy
estate agent Roland (Christian Brassington,

AKA Poldark’s odious vicar Ossie) is keen
to hold an open day to help and Edith’s
daughter Sandra (Joanna Scanlan) offers
to host it. However, events soon go awry
(John displays some wonderfully Fawlty-
esque ranting) thanks to cleaner Queenie
(the marvellous Anne Reid)... HHHHCC
