Ahead of the Game
Keep your edge and embrace
the future of gaming at
You’ve already heard of VR or Virtual Reality. It allows
gamers to have a first-person perspective in a virtual
world and move around it using their own body.
Now, AR or Augmented Reality is becoming real in this
reality. AR is similar to VR, but instead of you “entering” a
virtual world, the virtual world “enters” your world.
Games that take advantage of this technology are
Pokemon Go, Jurassic World Alive, and The Walking
Dead Our World.

Transition to augmented reality
Gaining market share in the mobile gaming industry is
something a game publisher hopes to attain before it runs
out of money. And it becomes more difficult every year
because of the oversaturation of games in the market.
To offset this problem, developers offer their games
free of charge to attract gamers and embed profit-
generating features in their games to earn money and
cover their expenses. Expect current and future games to
have more ads, expensive in-game items/purchases, and
new money-grabbing gimmicks.
More games, more ads
The trend does not lie. The most played games in the
world have children as its main player base. It doesn’t even
matter what the game looks like or who developed it—as
long as kids love it, it will become an overnight success.
Just look at Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite. Their
graphics are clunky and cartoony, but those games’ players
outnumber players of serious games made for adult
gamers like PUBG, Hearthstone, and Mobile Legends.
Kids at the center of
the gaming world
Gaming consoles and personal computers are losing
their grip on the gaming industry. While they’re not totally
out of the race, they’ve become niche. Smartphones have
become the number-one, must-buy for gamers, whether
casual or hardcore.
Smartphones are practical and portable. They have
a huge catalog of games, including some of the most
popular games like PUBG, Fortnite, and Mobile Legends.
The top three high-end gaming phones are Apple’s iPhone
XS, Samsung’s Galaxy S10, and Google’s Pixel 3.
