Castro Valley Car Show 2019
What can I say, my hometown puts on one heck of a good
car show! The Castro Valley Car Show is independently orga-
nized and presented by the Castro Valley Moose Lodge 1491.
All funding of the car show comes from sponsors, donations
and the participants’ registration. Their support makes it pos-
sible to donate proceeds from the event back to local youth
and community organizations.
At the last summer Car Show BBQ Get Together in August,
the Castro Valley Moose Lodge presented 8 youth and com-
munity organizations donation checks from the proceeds of
the 2018 Castro Valley Car Show.
The groups included the Roy Johnson Transition Program at
Redwood High School ($300), CVHS Reconnect California
Student Club ($300), CVHS Boys Basketball ($300), Chabot
Elementary Parents Club ($650), Oakland PD Explorers
Program ($650), Hayward Sea Cadets ($800), 3 Crosses Men’s
Ministry ($1000) and Alameda County Sheriffs Explorers
Program ($2000). All these groups contributed to the success
of the car show by volunteering their help before and during
the event.
Since the show has moved to the Boulevard (used to be held
in a local parking lot), it has grown in participant numbers,
and has gained popularity among the community. Car owners
pull out chairs and answer questions about their cars all day
long. The public loves this interaction, and admires all the
beautiful cars. Local vendors line the Blvd., there’s food and
drinks for everyone, and several stages provide music from
local bands. I’ve lived in Castro Valley all my life; this is my
local car show!
