The other story I found moving
was ‘Papa Bear’ (March). Animals
say more without words that humans
do with them. Fortunately, Wong
Siew Te heard the Sun Bear’s cry for
help. He is doing everything possible
to ensure these creatures never
disappear. MICHAEL WOUTERS

Rethinking Attitudes

After my mother died, my father
who is very capable, would
uncharacteristically mope.
I had been telling him to get on
with it and that Mum wouldn’t
want to see him carrying on like
this. Reading “Better Together’
(March) has made me rethink my
behaviour. I didn’t really appreciate
that you can feel deep, debilitating
loneliness even if you have people
in your life. I hope my new attitude
and actions will help get Dad
through. KRIS O’DEA
