On the hunt for

factual gold

■ Theinspiration for The

Hunting Party came, in

part, from a blog post Mike

read, entitled Rock Music

Sucks Right Now And It’s

Really Depressing.

■Guilty All The Same

was premiered on

Shazam, the app that

identifies a piece

of music if you

hold your phone up

to it. The song became

available to anyone who

‘Shazam-ed’ any of Linkin

Park’s songs.

■ Rakim’sappearance on

lead single Guilty All The

Same was a very big

deal for Mike, who

described the rapper

as one of his idols.

■Keen to ensure he was

in peak condition to keep

up with the pace of the

album, perfectionist

drummer Rob Bourdon

would work with a

personal trainer.

■ Despite his preparation,

the making of The Hunting

Party put a huge strain on

Rob. The intensity of playing

for up to 10 hours a day

resulted in him seriously

injuring his back.

Mike turns back the locks’

clock for the Hybrid Theory
