GIRL WITH GRIT
When asked if it’s always been her dream
to become an actress, Bianca couldn’t really
answer. It’s just that showbiz has always been
there; she started appearing in commercials
when she was two and had her first television
show when she was nine.

The 19-year-old shares how she and her
nanny would travel all the way from their
Parañaque home to the GMA studio in Quezon
City—via public transportation—to go on
auditions. She was around seven years old
then, and she’d line up along with other
aspiring kid actors for hours.

“Totoo ‘yun, ‘yung mahabang pila sa labas ng
GMA. —I was one of those [who’d line up],”
Bianca says. The GMA star also remembers her
gigs as an “extra,” when she’d wake up early for
a 3 a.m. call time and learning to quickly find a
good spot to sit on or lie down so she can take a
nap while waiting.

TAKING OFF
Experiences like that leave marks that shape
a person into what they are now—and Bianca
definitely learned so much from all of it.

From joining her first official TV show Tropang
Potchi, an educational kids program, to
starring in her first afternoon drama series
Mga Basang Sisiw, Bianca has come a long
way. Now, she plays the title role in her newest
primetime show Sahaya, which airs every
weekday night on GMA. Bianca considers
the show and her character her greatest
achievement yet professionally.

And it’s not only in the small screen where the
actress showcases her acting chops. Last May,
she starred in the psychological horror movie
Banal. Critics noted her good performance,
and the audience saw Bianca extend her range
further in terms of acting. Bianca is also part of
the powerhouse cast of the comedy-drama film
Family History, which is written, directed, and
produced by comedian Michael V and will hit
the cinemas this month.

With a decade-long stint in show business,
Bianca carries with her a long list of lessons
that continues to help her face whatever
challenges come her way. One of these lessons
is learning how to wait. “You just have to wait
because God has plans for you,” the GMA star
explains, referring to all the times she tried
and failed yet persisted until she reached her
goal. She also makes sure to be professional
everywhere she goes and with whatever work
she does. “As much as possible I would love to
arrive on time. I don’t like people waiting for
me,” she says.
