Dragon Quest
Builders 2
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch
Release date: July 12Platforms: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows
Release date: July 26JULY 2019 19If you’re one of the many who enjoyed the sandbox
world-building gameplay of the original Dragon Quest
Builders, then you’re going to be elated with this sequel. It’s got a lot of new systems and mechanics like
gardening, which should help you grow certain items and
supplies for quests and such. You can now travel across
land, air, and sea—fast-travel included. Simple land
irrigation necessary for the aforementioned gardening
feature and creating water-filled sections like rivers and
moats are also available. One major new feature is the inclusion of online and
offline multiplayer up to four players. This new feature
should make on-the-go building a more pick-up-and-play
affair especially if you get Dragon Quest Builders 2 for
the Nintendo Switch. The story is also serviceable, as you and your buddy
Malroth go up against the Children of Hargon, a cult
dedicated to eliminating all builders off the face of the
world—a bit over-the-top, but it’ll do.While the heroic exploits of one-man Nazi-killing machine and all-American patriot B.J. Blazkowicz have seemingly come to a close with
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and its beginning of a revolution against America’s Nazi overlords, the war with Nazi Germany isn’t over yet.Set a couple of decades later, Youngblood puts you in the shoes of Blazkowicz’s twin daughters, Jessica and Sophia, who set off for Paris to
search for a missing B.J. while navigating through a new world of war. It’s not a major sequel—apparently Wolfenstein III is in the pipeline,
making Youngblood more like required filler—but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the same chops for Nazi-killing mayhem.Whether you choose to go solo as either Jessica or Sophia or dive in with a friend or AI via cooperative play with both twins in tow, get ready
to come out guns blazing and raining bloody havoc. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is also a non-linear narrative experience—you get to choose your
missions in any order you prefer—for an otherwise leisurely trip.WORDS
