Traditional filet crochet gets
an update with this pair of
patterned pillows that evoke the
look of Southwestern textiles.
Rep process with 161/2-inch x
16 1/2-inch pieces of ecru fabric to
make insert for spice pillow.
ASSEMBLY
For each pillow, place front and
back panels tog, matching top
edges and working through both
thicknesses. With matching
yarn, sc join (see Special
Stitches) in top right corner of
both panels, sc in same sp, [sc
in each dc across, 2 sc in each
ch-2 sp across to corner, 7 sc in
corner], work 3 sc in side of each
row to next corner, 7 sc in corner,
rep between [ ] once, insert
pillow form, continue joining
panels, working 3 sc in side of
each row to corner, 5 sc in corner,
join (see Pattern Notes) in beg
sc. Fasten off.
SEPIA FRINGE
Cut 192 strands of sepia each
8 inches long (48 groups of
4 strands). Fold 4 strands in
half, with crochet hook, draw 4
strands through center sc of a
corner and fasten with lark’s
head knot (see illustration).
Attach 23 groups of fringe
evenly along the same short
edge of pillow, sk 2 sc between
fringe pairs. Rep process to
attach fringe to rem short edge.
Trim fringe ends even.
