HARDWIRED... AND
EARLY DAYZ, in partnership
with House Of Vans...

etween the ceremony
and the band’s knockout
show at Twickenham (see
page 58), we did a lot
of partying with Metallica during
Kerrang! Awards week. But even
that wasn’t quite enough Metalli-
action for us, so we hooked up with
our pals at London’s House Of Vans
to put together a special exhibition
celebrating the Bay Area legends –
Hardwired... And Early Dayz. And it
was fucking brilliant, even if we do
say so ourselves.
Featuring a gallery of ‘Tallica photos
from the Hardwired... era, as well
as classic shots and articles from the
Kerrang! archives, the exhibition shows
off the band in all their thrashing glory,
including previously unseen portraits by
K! photographer Tom Barnes taken in
Barcelona last month.
On top of that, fans could sample
the band’s delicious Enter Night beer
(thanks lads – hic!), and also beat the
queues for merch at the show by
visiting the pop-up shop. We went nuts
and bought a load of killer skate decks
and picked up the bespoke Pushead
shirt, designed especially for the event.
And if that wasn’t enough, we also
hosted the first UK screening of the
awesome new thrash documentary
Murder In The Front Row, charting the
rise of the early ‘80s Bay Area scene
in the words of ‘Tallica and basically
anyone else who held a guitar and
played fast in San Francisco.
And now we need a lie down...HARDWIRED... AND EARLY DAYZ
