As ever, the
Anschütz trigger was
crisp, offered plenty
of room and was a
delight every time in
the field.

showed the 11mm dovetails machined
into the action’s upper. Extending
40mm in front and 70mm to the rear,
spanning the ejection port, gives more
space than most rimfires for scope
mounting. Because the rear section
also spans the bolt-handle’s location,
it is wise to mount rings with their own
screw heads to the left side of the gun.
No scope interference is likely from the
60° handle lift and combined with the
14"/355mm length of pull, you have
more space for the scope to fit in the
right place relative to the shooter, a
factor I find often limited on short
rimfire actions.
This Classic stock is exactly that,
with a straight-grain walnut sporter

style, no Monte Carlo cheekpiece or
excessive palm swells so the gun
remains ambidextrous with chequering
on the grip and fore-end for extra
control. The comb is perhaps a little
low given the general intention of
scope mounting in the modern world,
no bolt cycling issues or iron sights
fitted, but at least the clean action
design with low bolt lift allows your
chosen scope to be mounted low to
the action without only the objective
size to concern you.
The stock’s parallel linear fit welds it
to your shoulder with no cast or drop to
the heel and slim enough to allow a
nice vertical head position with both
eyes open on a horizontal plane for

better spacial awareness. Studs are
fitted for a sling and/or bipod at the
fore-end and under the sloping butt.
This will give great supporting position
from prone with a bag or fist
underneath, yet never compromises
the sleek lines of the rifle.
The fore-end is stiff enough to
ensure a full 2mm free-float in all
circumstances with enough meat in the
profile to fill a hand, even gloved,
without fingers encountering the barrel
harming harmonics.
The barrel sits central in the channel
and, with the barrelled action removed
from the stock, the flat bottom of the
action design is seen to locate firmly in

Scope
mounting is
easier than on many
rimfires, thanks to
good-sized dovetails
in the action
upper.

An attractive
walnut stock gives
this rifle a nice
classic look, hence
the name!
