COMEDY SERIES:“HBO’s Emmy magnet ‘Veep’ is back after a two-year absence, and it will
likely dominate in all the comedy categories” says Kristen Baldwin of Entertainment Weekly. But
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is easier to love, so it could be a tough call, adds Matt Roush of TV
Guide magazine. And “Barry” is the current king of comedy, so what are its chances of taking the
Emmy win? Check out all our panelists’ comments at latimes.com/buzzmeter.

DIGGING IN DEEP
ON FIGHTING A WAR
Milo Ventimiglia’s “This Is Us”
character, Jack Pearson, was
killed off two seasons ago. But
that hasn’t stopped the Emmy-
nominated actor from giving
some of this season’s strongest
performances, particularly as
the series goes back in time to
follow his Army years in Viet-
nam. Because fighting a war
wasn’t enough, Jack also had to
look after his younger brother
struggling with substance
abuse and, well, trying to sur-
vive. Ventimiglia was just one of
this season’s nominated actors
to stop by The Envelope’s video
studio. Take a look at youtube

search for the 2019 Emmys
channel for his video and
many others.
