or truck operators and drivers looking to safeguard
themselves against fraudulent insurance claims,
installing a dashboard camera should be a high
priority. In the event of an accident, the sad truth
is that lorry drivers are usually the first to cop the blame
– but having the ability to produce recorded footage of
what happened can mean the difference between a lengthy
battle and a swift resolution.
Dash cams come in a variety of flavours depending on
what features you require. Truck-specific devices can offer
a load of clever functionality including full telematics
integration, hard-wiring and multi-camera options – but for
many drivers, a cheaper consumer-level camera may be a
good first step. Just stick it in windscreen, plug it into the
fag lighter and you’re good to go.

a slimline form factor. Designed to record crystal-clear 1080p footage, the
camera measures just 170 x 65 x 65 mm and includes a high-precision
GPS sensor to ensure captured footage is matched to accurate location
and speed data. Video captured by the 165-degree wide-angle lens is
stored on a MicroSD card (sadly not included), which can be locked into
the device to reduce the risk of tampering. It also offers built-in WIFI,
automatic switch-on, and automatic accident and event recording.

camera packs a lot in. Plus, it comes pre-loaded with Aguri’s Speedshield
speed trap location database, which is regularly updated for free (and no
subscription is necessary). Drivers are also given clear audible and visual
warnings when approaching a speed trap.
