TACK LINg DI Y
To help keep costs down, Kyle and Gemma
took on most of the DIy themselves and have
certainly learnt a lot during the process. There
was one occasion when Kyle accidentally
drilled into a live wire in the wall – thankfully
he was fine – so they have since invested in
a wire detector.
Gemma loves upcycling furniture and
has revamped several pieces in the house,
including two mid-century chests of drawers
that are now in the guest bedroom. She
purchased them second hand online and
painted on a geometric design to give them
character. ‘I’ve also taught myself macramé
and I’ve made plant hangers, wall hangings
and the light shade in the hallway,’ she says.a cosy throw makes

To stop the dining area looking
cramped, Gemma added a compact
table and bench rather than a
cumbersome set. The space feels
personal thanks to the displays on
the picture ledges above.
