Naomi Campbell has said she was
barred entry to a hotel in the south
of France because she is black.
In an interview with Paris Match,
the supermodel said she and a black
friend were blocked from entering
the hotel, which she did not name,
despite having an invitation to an
event there.
She said door staff told them the

The younger brother of the
Manchester Arena bomber will face
trial in November over his alleged
involvement in the attack.
Hashem Abedi, 22, will go on
trial at the Old Bailey in London on
5 November charged with 22 counts
of murder. He is also accused of
one count of attempted murder,
encompassing all the other victims,

Detectives investigating the
discovery of human remains in a
septic tank say they believe they are
those of a woman who disappeared
in 1982. Brenda Venables was 48
when she was reported missing by
her husband, David Venables.
West Mercia police have
launched a murder investigation
after the discovery of a body at the
couple’s then home in Kempsey,
Worcestershire, on 12 July.
An 86-year-old man is in custody.
Police said they were awaiting

A British man and three Ugandans
have been charged in Uganda in
connection with carrying out illegal
clinical trials and administering
industrial bleach to people.
Sam Little, 25, from Arlesey in
Bedfordshire, Tim Tom, a pastor at
Fort Portal Christian fellowship, and
Samuel Albert and Samula Tadeo,
both herbalists, were charged with
distributing a liquid called Miracle
Mineral Solution (MMS), which they
claimed cured HIV, malaria and
cancer, to villagers in poor areas.
“They were charged with carrying

out illegal clinical trials and
supplying impure drugs,” a Ugandan
police spokesman said. The
Ugandan s were also charged with
unlawful possession of a narcotic
drug and smoking a narcotic drug.
Little was arrested in May after
the Guardian reported a network
that was giving the “miracle cure ”
to up to 50,000 Ugandans. The
three Ugandans were then operating
in Kabarole and Fort Portal in
western Uganda. Charging the men
was delayed while the Uganda
government tested the solution.
Ugandan police said the
solution contained a “dangerous
toxin that [is] harmful for human
consumption”. Alon Mwesigwa

hotel was full, but they saw other
people being allowed access at the

Campbell told the magazine : “I
was recently in a town in the south
of France while the Cannes fi lm
festival was going on, where I was
invited to take part in an event in a
hotel that will remain nameless.
“They did not want to let us come
in, my friend and me, because of the
colour of our skin. This guy at the
door made out that the place was
full. But he was letting other people

and one count of conspiring with his
brother to cause explosions.
The charges relate to the attack on
22 May 2017. Abedi’s older brother,
Salman, detonated a suicide vest
as people left an Ariana Grande
concert, killing 22 and injuring 260.
Abedi, of no fi xed abode,
appeared at Oxford crown court
yesterday via video link from HMP
Belmarsh for a preliminary hearing
before Mr Justice Sweeney. He did
not enter pleas and was remanded in
custody until the next hearing.
The court heard that the

judge had granted a prosecution
application under section 22 of
the Counter-Terrorism Act 2008,
meaning Abedi will be interviewed
by police even though he has
already been charged.
Sweeney said Mr Justice Jeremy
Baker would preside over the trial,
and a plea and trial preparation
hearing would take place on a date
to be fi xed in early October.
The defendant, who was raised
in Manchester, was extradited from
Libya this month.

Venables told the Worcester News:
“I just woke up to fi nd that she
had gone. She has never done
anything like this before and I
haven’t the faintest idea what
has happened to her.”
