to add some pre-shading for the base of
Tamiya Olive Green. This was applied in
several light coats thus enabling the shadow
coat to add some subtle tonal variations to
show though on the inished look. With the
main painting complete the model received
a gloss coat prior to decals being added.
Following that I applied a dark green oil
wash to bring out some of the details, and
once dry I removed the excess wash with
some cotton buds.
The one-piece rubber tracks received
a coat of Tamiya Iron and were then dry
brushed with various metallic colours. They
were then stretched over the sprockets and
road wheels. The entire model was then
given a layer of Matt and following this I
applied some oil pastel powders to further
add to the weathering. A inal coat of Matt
was then applied to seal everything in, and
the build was complete. I think you will agree
that the result is very satisfying, although
not factually correct in shape or colour! But
that is the appeal of these little kits, which
allow you to let yourself go, both in your
imagination and creativity.toon t-34
