I added some pre-shading and some highlighting

...and remove as much.... ......as neccessary to obtain the correct look

Adding an overall wash as described in the text...

Here we have the

model now ready

for painting

Thin tape was used

for the edges of

the spine......

...and then the entire

area was masked and

sprayed black.....
