Golf Monthly UK – August 2019

(やまだぃちぅ) #1
egardless of how fleeting or
unrealistic, we have all dreamed of
being a professional golfer. Jetting
off around the world to play the
finest courses with vast sums on
offer? It sounds perfect. However, it
should be acknowledged that most
of us, including those aspiring to be
professionals, have little

comprehension of what it takes to
get there. This is where the
Jenahura Tour Academy comes in.
In our March issue, we introduced
this two-day camp which seeks to
educate and prepare players for
what is required to be a successful
professional, both on and off the
course. Given the intense
competition to become a pro these
days, this education and knowledge
could be vital.
The camp took the form of a
collection of seminars presented by
people who had been there and
done it – such as Andrew Coltart
and Billy Foster – and those with
knowledge and expertise who could
help players succeed. Accompanying

these seminars was an 18-hole
strokeplay medal at the stunning
Bearwood Lakes Golf Club.
Ten players attended the inaugural
event, each of whom were starting
their careers at different levels. There
were professionals like Bobby Keeble,
who currently plays on the EuroPro
Tour, and Ben Amor, who’s on the
Alps Tour. They were joined by
amateurs like Holly Haslam and
George Brunett, who are county
players, and myself, even though I’ve
long since abandoned my pro dream!
