Holden FE Special in Ascot Grey

B

y the mid-1950s, Holden was truly
established as the market leader, but its
designs were starting to appear dated. The
new FE was a much more modern looking
machine than the original ‘Humpy’ shape,
and it featured a new 12 volt electrical system
(replacing the six-volt system of the FJ) and an
improved version of the ‘Grey’ six engine, with
power increasing from 45kW to 53kW. This
Classics Carlectables model features accurate
door trim details: the two-tone vinyl accent,

chrome trim, handle and
window winder, the full
ring steering wheel horn
and dash horizontal air
vent. The engine and
surrounding bay is superbly
detailed with all the original
stickers and markings
adding to the realistic
appearance. The chassis
bears an individually
numbered etched metal plate which is the
edition number of your model.

1972 XA Falcon GT in Blaze Blue

T

he XA was a major departure in styling
from the much boxier XY – much like
Holden’s new-shaped HQ. One wonders who
followed whom? Was there a styling war to go
with everything else? Under the skin, though,
the XA was grossly similar to the XY: Cleveland
V8s, the venerable Top Loader gearbox, leaf
springs down the back with a nine-inch in
the middle of the live rear axle. Personally, I
always preferred the four-door Falcons as the
big coupe looked a little rear-heavy to me. But
if someone thrust one at me, I would be very
unlikely to say ‘no’. This 1:18 scale car is die-
cast and has full opening parts. This includes
a detailed boot, engine bay and oor. Release
is planned for the third quarter of this year.
This particular Blaze Blue replica is another
fantastic model produced by Autoart. It will be
produced in the new composite tooling with
fully opening parts, high detail and beautiful
nishing throughout. If you’re a fan of the Blue
Oval then this will be a great addition to your
collection. Pricing is likely to be about $270.00.

There will be just 750 of this model in this
colour, and at $279, they might go pretty quickly.
