Far from the madding
crowd, in the rural
Sussex countryside,
lies a modern-day
utopia.
The village of
Darvell is home to a
settlement of the
Bruderhof, a radical
Christian community
who live outside of
mainstream society. There’s no crime,
debt or homelessness, everyone has a
job but no one earns a salary.
This documentary goes behind the
scenes to discover if members have
truly found the answers to a
harmonious life.

‘I’ve seen the emptiness in people’s
lives and how messed up society is,’
says teenager Hannah.
‘Now I realise the value in community
and the joy in committing my life to
something bigger than myself – it just
makes me flipping happy.’

Geoff Norcott is an angry right-wing
comedian, but he’s lost his sense of
humour with the quinoa-munching,
Brexit-protesting metropolitan elite...
In this opinionated documentary,
the funnyman who grew up on a south
London council estate rages against
the middle classes.
He claims they’re forcing working
class folk out of their own homes and
cheating the system to get their ‘little
darlings’ into the best schools – all
while eating smashed avocado on
sourdough toast. Let the rant begin!

Drink expensive red wine
or craft beer while
watching pretentious
foreign language films.

Practise downward dog
at a hot yoga class, then
grab a frappuccino on the
way to brunch.

You’re called Oliver or
Jemima and only date people
who went to private schools.

Eat vegan burgers or
chateaubriand steak and attend
posh sports events like
Badminton Horse Trials.

physical challenges, encountering
extraordinary wildlife and meeting incredible
characters. This week, Expedition with Steve
Backshall sees our man in Suriname,
heading into the Guiana Shield, a lost world
of towering table-top mountains, while in
future episodes he’ll face blisteringly hot

desert canyons and lead the first expedition
kayaking in the Arctic at the most dangerous
time of year.
‘I feel like so many people are getting
detatched from our wild world, and losing
their sense of investment in it,’ says Steve. ‘I
wanted to prove that exploration isn’t dead.’
