The prospect of change and a shift of power in the Augustan house is
alreadyimplicit,evenexplicit.AugustusandTiberiusappearonlyas‘‘Caesar

ambiguous language,on the prospective rule of the next generation, Ger-

celebratedbyTiberiusoverIllyricum,onOctober,...^43 Inthefirst
oftwopoemsonthistriumph(Ex P.,),heprovidesanotherevocationof
thespectatorswatchingtheprocession(–),andapredictionofafuture
