Remember that wholesome, smiling people pleaser Taylor
Swift? She can’t come to the phone right now — or ever! In the
fascinating Netf lix documentary Miss Americana — which
premiered Jan. 23 at the Sundance Film Festival — the pop star speaks
frankly about her struggles with an eating disorder, her psychological
trauma stemming from the Kanye West MTV VMAs incident and how
her own #MeToo experience led to her first public political endorsement,
of a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Tennessee. (During
the premiere, her line about the decision, “Even if this doesn’t work,
at least I tried,” led to spontaneous applause.) On stage after the film,
Swift, 30, was greeted with a standing ovation as well as loud shrieking
from members of her fan club, who’d lined up for hours to get in. Visibly
overwhelmed, Swift took a moment to praise her director, Lana Wilson.
“For so much of my life in the public eye, when I get sad or humiliated or
angry or go through a really horrible time, I feel like people are trying to
lean in. There’s this hunger,” she told Wilson. “You never did that.”MADE HER DO
