Douglas R. MacLeod of
Middleville, MI passed away
peacefully in the evening
hours of Friday, Feb. 24,
2023.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Yule and
Hazel (Haskin) MacLeod of
Freeport, MI; sisters: Janet
Hammond of Belding, MI,
Marian Rogers of Lake
Odessa, MI; two grand-
daughters, Salana Ann
Dunklee of Orlando, FL,
Taylor Richelle Clark of
Hastings, MI.
He is survived by his wife
of 43 years, Kathleen Ann
(Myers) MacLeod of
Middleville, MI; daughters,
Robin (Ron) Good of
Hudsonville, MI, Pamela
MacLeod of Clearwater, FL;
brother, John MacLeod of
Hastings, MI; sister,
Catherine Bachman of
Freeport, MI; 15 grandchil-
dren; 15 great grandchil-
dren.
Doug grew up on a farm
near Freeport, where he
learned to love and care for
animals. His father encour-
aged him to box and in 1959
he was the Golden Gloves
Welterweight Champion of
Michigan. He graduated
from Hastings High School,
worked construction, then
started his own home

improvement business, con-
tracting locally and in Austin,
TX where he and Kathy lived
for seven years. After return-
ing to West Michigan, they
bought a house and lived in
Middleville. He then worked
as a lawn care specialist for
Harder and Warner
Landscaping until his retire-
ment.
In his spare time Doug
enjoyed fishing, gardening
and spending time with his
family and friends.
Per Doug’s wishes, no ser-
vices will be held.

Paul Harold “Spike”
Dykstra, age 54. of
Middleville, MI, selflessly
donated his organs and
passed away on March 7,
2023.
Spike was born on October
1, 1968 the son of Paul L.
and Sheila (Welton) Dykstra.
Spike was a 1988 graduate of
Thornapple Kellogg High
School. After high school,
he worked construction for
utility contracting for 29
years.
Spike enjoyed hunting,
fishing, and running heavy

equipment.
Spike is survived by his

Dykstra; sister, Brenda
(Carl) Blough; nieces,
Paula (Michael) Gamerl,
Michaela (Nick) Lane,
Maria Blough; several
aunts, uncles, and cousins;

Spike was preceded in
death by his father.
Spike’s family will receive
friends on Monday, March
13, 5 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 11
a.m. on Tuesday, March 14,
2023 at the Beeler-Gores
Funeral Home where his

funeral service will be con-
ducted at 11 a.m.
In honor of Spike, his
family requests that visi-
tors wear jeans. Burial
will take place in German
Cemetery.
