b. the performance [of the typewriterCL-A]
 the barking [of the dogCL.A].
Interestingly, plural result vNs derived from ACM verbs used itera-
tively as ACTs also appear to follow the prediction ("appear," as for
reasons which will be discussed below, it is not entirely clear whether these
nominals include the direct argument of marker or the possessive of marker
— or if, in fact, they remain ambiguous between the two readings). A few
representative examples are given here.
(40) Iterative Accomplishment "Activities" with Plural Result vNs
a. Sara King designed fashion apparel.
b. *the designs [of fashion apparely]
. the designs [of Sara KingCL.A]
d. Larson created cartoon characters.
e. *the creations [of cartoon charactersy
f. the creations [of LarsonCL_A]
g. Panasonic produced transistor radios.
h. * the products [of transistor radiosy]
i. the products [of PanasonicCL_A]
The question which immediately presents itself in regard to these con
structions is whether they are parallel in a possessive sense to the state vN
of NPposs,r forms discussed previously. Recall from that discussion that in
the case of post-nominal possessives, English distinguishes between aliena
ble and inalienable possession, marking the former with both the possessive
of marker and the genitive 's, but marking the latter only with the posses
sive of. Since the NPs marked by of in (40) are not also marked by the geni
tive 's, it seems doubtful that these NPs would be interpreted as alienable
possessions. The remaining question, then, is whether these of-marked NPs
can be interpreted as inalienable possessions. On the one hand — and in
distinction to the possessive state nominals — these iterative ACM "ac
tivities" cannot be decomposed semantically by paraphrases of the type
"the vN (that/which) χ has". That is, whereas the love of Jess for the puppy
and the love Jess has for the puppy are essentially synonymous and can only
mean that the love "belongs" to/is in the possession of Jess, the designs of
Sara King and the designs Sara King has are not synonymous. In the first
