Horizontal and vertical lines are perpendicular to
each other
Lines that make a right angle when they intersect are
perpendicular
Any two lines that meet
and make a right angle
are perpendicular to each other. Perpendicular lines don’t have
to be horizontal and vertical.
Two lines are also perpendicular when they cross each other, or
intersect, at a right angle.
Can you find more examples of all three kinds of perpendicular
lines in the picture?
