SMALL CHANGE

All decisions by New
Zealand’s government will
be made through a climate
crisis lens, the country’s
Climate Change Minister
has said. James Shaw
announced in December
that climate change will
“be a standard part of
cabinet’s decision making.”
Other pledges include: plans
to plant 1bn trees by 2028;
a tax on farmers who fail
to cut emissions; and a

PATIENTS ACROSS THE UK are set to reap the health benefits of activities such as spending time in nature, following the
launch of the National Academy for Social Prescribing in October. It’s a means of enabling doctors and nurses to refer patients
to beneficial, non-clinical activities such as volunteering, gardening, cooking, befriending, sports and arts. The independent
academy will receive £5m of government funding and will help to improve the range of such services available.
