DETAILS
(^) ➊ Lighting: Hanging pendant lights bring light lower than most mounted fixtures do, reducing
shadows in the mirror. Interior designer Katelyn Rountree selected these Fjord Cord pendants
in Matte Black from Cedar & Moss. CedarAndMoss.com
➋ Two-Level Countertop: This Caesarstone “Frosty Carrina 5141” countertop was designed
so that the homeowners’ daughters each have a defined individual space beside their sink.
6527 Jimmy Carter Blvd., Ste. C-2, Norcross or CSIKitchenAndBath.com; CaesarstoneUS.com
➌ Cabinetry Color: Katelyn chose Sherwin-Williams’ serene Labradorite SW 7619 blue paint in
a gloss finish for the vanity and mirrors. Sherwin-Williams.com
➍ Mirrors: These custom mirrors were affixed to the window frames of this historic home
because changing the location of the windows was not a viable option. According to Katelyn,
hanging them this way allows for plenty of natural light to fill the room.
403 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Ste. 215, Decatur. TerracottaDesignBuild.com
➎^ Flooring: Katelyn kept the vintage feel of the room with hex gloss porcelain mosaic tile.

Katelyn Rountree’s tips for designing a bold bathroom
• Brighten up a bathroom using glossy finishes that reflect light. Select materials for window
treatments that allow natural light to stream through like these custom linen Roman shades by
M2M Designs.
• Choose “timeless bold neutrals” and balance them with crisp, modern white surfaces.
• Add a surprise with lighting. I used three pendants versus the more-expected choice of
two fixtures flanking the mirrors.
• Decorative hardware, like these mother-of-pearl drawer pulls from Anthropologie are a fun
design twist and can easily be switched out for a completely different look.
