A History of Applied Linguistics - From 1980 to the present

(Kiana) #1

When invited to take part in this project Aneta Pavlenko reacted enthu-
siastically and wrote:“It looks like our babyfield isfinally coming of age.”
Maybe this book has a role to play in the maturation and self-definition of
AL, but given the biases in the selection of informants and the questions
asked, it will continue to be“a”or“my”rather than“the”history. Other
perspectives and other voices will lead to different outcomes that are equally
as valid or invalid as the ones presented in this book.
