Our dog Missy was so
smart, I was able to
teach her to read! I
made five posters, each
with the name of one
of her favorite toys. I
would hold the poster
and name the toy, then
ask her to go get it. After
several weeks, I stopped
naming the toy and
just said, “Go get it!”
It took a while, but with
practice, she would
bring the right toy
100 percent of the time.

until I follow her. She barks only when my

asthma attack. The
front door was locked.
