thatthoughthese‘tonic-clonic’
seizures– formerlyreferredtoas
‘grandmal’– areindeedcommon,
thereareothers.
“Infact,thereareover 40 different
typesofseizures,”headds,which
includeoneswherea personstares
blanklyanddoesn’trespondwhen
someoneistalkingtothem,and
othersthatcausethemusclesto
contractsothebodybecomesrigid.
Epilepticseizuresoccurwhen
electricalsignalsinthebrain
malfunction.Theyfallundertwo
broadcategories:generalised,
involvingtheentirebrain,orfocal,
affectingonlypartofit.Whilesome
peopleonlyeverexperienceone
