PREP
Christy fi lled the old
knob holes, then used
a hand sander all over
the cabinet, taking care
not to remove all the
chipped paint. “I didn’t
want the cabinet to feel
like a completely
diff erent piece,” she says.
“I wanted to keep its
original character with the
texture of the old paint.”

PAINT
Christy brushed
on primer and two coats
of enamel paint and
sprayed a closet rod with
metallic paint.

door hinges, mounted
sockets for the closet
