GROUNDCOVER
Add sheet moss,
fi lling in any
gaps with pebbles.
(The moss will
cover them
fairly quickly.) ■
FERNS
Add some small
indoor sword
ferns for lushness.
MINOR BULBS
Plant a few
clusters of shorter
spring fl owers
like grape hyacinths
or crocuses in front.
FOCAL PLANTS
Start with a pot
or two of blooming
fl owers like
daff odils, tulips, or
hellebores. Repot
them in a wide,
shallow container
with potting soil.
HOW TO
PLANT
With a few easy-to-find plants,
you can re-create the forest’s
springtime exuberance in miniature.
in a pot
A mix of
daff odil colors
gives a more
found-in-
nature look.
Tuck in a piece
of drift wood
to mimic bark
and ground the
scene.
LIGHT AND
WATER NEEDS
Indoors, place
the pot on a tray in
bright, indirect
light; keep soil moist.
Once fl owers
have faded, replant
the ferns in pots
for indoors.
The bulbs can be
planted in the
ground come fall.
