THE CREATIVE BOOM PODCAST
There are many design podcasts out there, but the newly
launched Creative Boom Podcast is a little different.
Presenter Katy Cowan, owner of the eponymous blog,
has pulled in some big names, including Ian Anderson,
Malcolm Garrett, Lisa Maltby, Anthony Burrill, Rankin
and Stanley Chow. Her chatty style, combined with a
sharp journalistic focus, elicits some surprising
revelations from her guests. And as Katy has a
background in radio herself, the production quality on
this weekly show is high, making it feel as though you’re
listening to a Radio 4 programme, rather than a bad
Skype connection in an echo-plagued basement.

DO THE F*CKING WORK
Want to take your career to the next level? Authors Jason Bacher
and Brian Buirge won’t soft-soap you. “It’s a cruel world out there;
it doesn’t make accommodations,” they write. “Survival means
making use of whatever you get, whether you like it or not.” To
push you in the right direction, their new book Do the F*cking
Work: Lowbrow Advice for High-Level Creativity is packed with
unorthodox tips, forthright advice and a healthy dose of
obscenity. If you want a creative career guide that tells it to you
straight, this is it. On sale from 2 April, priced £19.
