How do I stop my iPhone from locking after such a
short space of time? Helen Whitehead
How do I use my iPhone as an internet provider for my
MacBook when I’m out and about? Andrew Pepler
1
Open Settings
Start off by launching
your iPhone’s Settings app
and then tap on the ‘Display
& Brightness’ setting from the
long list of options.
2
Pick option
You will see options
relating to all aspects of your
iPhone’s display. Tap on the
‘Auto-Lock’ option halfway
down the page.
3
Choose time
You will now be able to
set a new duration before
your iPhone locks. Longer
periods will impact on the
battery life, though.
Is it possible to change the
start date of the week in
my iOS Calendar app as it
would make it easier to track my
working hours? Michelle Green
Most certainly. On your iOS device, go
to Settings>Calendar and scroll down
to see the ‘Start Week On’ option.
Tap on this and you will be able to
select any day to start your week on.
Simply select one and then close the
Settings app to save the setting. You
can also add other calendars by going
to Settings>Passwords and Accounts
and tapping on the ‘Add Account’
option before filling in the details.
How do I activate my Mac’s
built-in ‘Summarise’ feature
to speed-read documents
and web pages? Anthony Rowan
Go to System Preferences>Keyboard>
Shortcuts and click on ‘Services’ in
the left menu and then choose ‘Text’
in the right window. Now tick the
box next to ‘Summarise’ to make
this option appear in the Services
section of an application’s main
menu. You can activate Summarise
by highlighting a chunk of text, right/
Ctrl+ clicking and then going to
Services>Summarise.
Open Settings
To set this up, go to
Settings>Personal
Hotspot and make sure
that the ‘Allow Others
to Join’ option is turned
on. This will allow other
devices to connect to
the internet using your
mobile data.
Wi-Fi password
Any devices signed into
your iCloud account will
be able to connect to your
hotspot without having to
enter a password. All other
devices will need to enter
the password displayed
here in order to connect.
It’s very simple.
Connection
methods
Family members
can also connect
to your personal
hotspot by going to
the Wi-Fi settings
and choosing
your iPhone, or via
Bluetooth.
