Henri Privat-Livemont was born in Brussels, Belgium. He is best known for his
Art Nouveau posters. From 1883 to 1889, he worked and studied in the studios
of Lemaire, Lavastre & Duvignaud in Paris. He, with Lemaire, created the decor
of the Theatre Francais as well as the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. He later returned to
his hometown of Brussels, where he continued his decorative artistry. His works
were included in Jules Chéret’s Maîtres de l’Affiche poster series.
