PAUL COLIN
1892–1985
Paul Colin, a student of Eugène Vallin and Victor Prouvé, was made famous in
1925 by his poster for La Revue Nègre, which helped launch the career of the
American singer Josephine Baker, who later became his mistress. Colin worked
for over 40 years in the theater, creating not only posters but also sets and
costumes. His first leanings were to the Art Deco style, but he quickly moved on
to develop a highly personal style that is difficult to categorize.
