Capital City
Caracas is  not only    the capital city    but also    the largest by  population. The city    has a
population   of  1,943,901   people  (2017).     At  the     same    time,   the     metro   area    had     a
million more    inhabitants,    with    a   total   population  of  2.9 million.
Currency
The currency    is  the Venezuelan  bolivar,    Bs. Code    (VES)
Language
Spanish is  the official    language,   but there   are numerous    indigenous  dialects.
Religion
Christianity     is  the     main    religion,   with    Roman   Catholic    92%     and     8%  Protestant  or
other.
Location    and size
Venezuela,  named   the Bolivarian  Republic    of  Venezuela,  is  located on  the northern
coast    of  South   America.    The     country     comprises   a   continental     mainland    and
numerous    islands in  the Caribbean   Sea.    It  borders Guyana  to  the east,   Brazil  to  the
south,  and Colombia    to  the west.   Its Caribbean   neighbours  off the northern    coast
are Trinidad    and Tobago, Barbados,   Curaçao,    Bonaire,    Aruba,  Saint   Vicent  and the
Grenadines  and the Leeward Antilles.   The country is  located 8   degrees north   of  the
equator  and     falls   within  the     tropics.    Venezuela   measures    912,050     square
kilometres.

In  2016    the estimated   population  of  Venezuela   was 31,775,371.
