PORTFOLIO
The inspiration for my personal collection came aft er I had the
opportunity to experience the “Sea Plastic” exhibition by Australian
chemist Wolfgang. His artwork, created using discarded plastic
bottles, bags, hats, ropes, and shoes, really caught my attention.
I was fascinated by how he transformed these harmful waste
materials into beautiful pieces of art. This inspired me to explore
similar ideas in my own work, particularly in using ropes and
polyester fabrics to design garments that embody the essence of
marine creatures.
In my research, I delved into various marine elements, and the
shapes of shells and jellyfish captivated me. I wanted to blend
the beauty of marine life with the human form by incorporating
interesting and lustrous fabrics that would capture the play of light
and create a sense of floating, glossy surfaces and soft textures
reminiscent of these creatures. The garments in this collection
exude a sense of freedom, with a semi-loose fitted silhouette.
I incorporated gathering and ruff les as key design elements,
creatively mimicking the elegant form of jellyfish.
The style of the garments is a fusion of romantic and modern
elements, making the collection suitable for both everyday wear
and special occasions. Taking inspiration from Wolfgang’s artwork,
I incorporated unique dye-gradient purple-blue straps into the
designs, which emulate the natural structure of rope in an artistic
and visually striking manner.
I believe this collection resonates with individuals who appreciate
the delicate beauty of marine life and seek to express their aff inity
for the natural world through fashion.
