Task 4
a. How do scientists know that dinosaurs really existed?
b. How certain are scientists about the way dinosaurs looked?
Why?
c. It is believed that about 65 million years ago the dinosaurs
became extinct (all died out). However, scientists disagree
about what had caused this to happen, i.e. they have different
conclusions about how and why they died. How are these
different conclusions possible if scientists have access to and
use the same set of data to derive their conclusions?
Nature of Science
Tentativeness; Human endeavor (creativity); Scientists have
different interpretations of the facts because of their backgrou
nd knowledge and experiences (subjectivity).
Role of human inference and creativity in developing scientific
explanations and models based on available data.
