Key aspects of teaching science through
inquiry (for teacher)
- Organizing the classroom
- the rooms where science takes place must be set up to make
hands-on investigations in groups possible
- Encouraging collaborative work
- Asking productive questions
- The questions that teachers ask play a very important role in
teaching through inquiry. Good questions move the work forward;
less good questions are unlikely to do so.
- Using students’ prior experiences and ideas
- Communicating and discussing their ideas is just one way of
helping students to more scientific explanations
