In any major city, you won’t have to look for the ubiquitous
Internet café. It will find you. Competition is serious and
the price is right. Try several in order to choose your best
nest. Off-peak hours like lunch time offer the best chance
for immediate accommodation.
PRE-ENTRY VACCINATIONS
Yellow fever vaccination is not required but is recommended
for rural travel in the humid lowlands. Any other vaccination
depends on your own threshold of concern. Consult your
physician about the Tetanus booster. Rainforest explorers
should consider Typhoid vaccine or capsules. Also consult
your physician about the feasibility of a Hepatitis A
vaccination.

TRAINS AND BUS
Bus service is relatively comfortable to and from large cities,
and less so the farther off the main trail you go. Terminals
are easy to find but larger cities like La Paz have different
subterminals for various specialised routes.
Not necessarily more practical if time is of the essence,
train travel is the little-known alternative (only a few routes)
with a possibly more pleasing or at least more aesthetic
experience taking the Expreso del Sur, on the Red Occidental
(Western Network).
The Red Oriental focuses on a main line between Santa
Cruz and Quijarro on the Brazilian border. Heat and humidity
and possible overcrowding may remove the pleasure from
