THE DREAM: “I wanted it to feel
relaxing and like an escape, so
it feels like we’re on holiday in
our own home,” says Heather.
WHY NOW: “We’ve always kept an eye
out for a place in this area – it’s rare for
acreage to come up here,” she says.KITCHEN Designer-builder duo Heather and Aaron had a lot to consider when creating the ultimate ‘forever’ place for their young family
of five – namely, adopting a timeless style they would never tire of and allowing enough space for their growing brood. For casual mealtimes,
they gather around the kitchen island bench (opposite) on ‘Malawi’ tub bar chairs from Uniqwa Furniture. On other occasions they pull up
a ‘Nalu’ dining chair (from Yak And Yeti Traders) at the three-metre-long ‘Barcelona’ dining table (from 55 Parrots), where there is plenty of
room to accommodate extra friends and family. LIVING When they’re at home, you’ll often find the couple and their three children playing
games around the fireplace (a Universal Insert 1500mm from Jetmaster, below). “We don’t have a TV in this area and, when people come over,
it’s where everyone sits playing Charades or Celebrity Heads,” smiles Heather (pictured opposite with Stella, Ami and Ace). The elegant ‘Como’
