DINING ROOM “I had my eye on that pendant light for a long time,” says Jodie
of her ‘Ora’ light by Ross Gardam in Musk (above). The fixture brings her favourite
colour into the space, pairing perfectly with cabinetry painted in Dulux Silkwort.
“I never get tired of pink,” declares Jodie, pictured above with Annie and Tommy
by the Ascot dining table from Globe West and Thonet dining chairs.

KITCHEN Designed for socialising, and fitted out by Ore Designs, the kitchen
(opposite) is centred around a huge island “with lots of room for big platters,” says
Jodie. The island is topped by Corian in Snow from Newgrove Benchtops and fronted
with VJ panelling, in a nod to the original weatherboard cottage. The black rangehood
was custom-made to tie in with the steel window frames. It was also key to Jodie
that the finish be fully matt to offset the shine of the marble splashback. “It’s one
full piece!” she says. “Not fun to install, but worth it.” American oak, a unifying
force in the house, pops up in the joinery edges and the stools from Life Interiors.

ENTRY From the moment of crossing the threshold, Jodie’s affinity with flowers
and foliage is apparent (top left). Her console is a pedestal for ever-changing plant life,
complemented by works by artist Kimmy Hogan. The hall piece is a “very, very old”
purchase from Living Etc in Geelong, but Globe West’s Viva console is similarly sleek.

LIVING ROOM As soon as the extension to Jodie’s house was conceived, she knew
she wanted a wall of recycled bricks, which now stands proudly beneath a staircase by
Ore Designs (left). The wall of recycled reds is a beautifully textured backdrop to a
Bonnie Gray artwork and contrasts nicely with the grey Oz Design Furniture couch. >
