Safari style is back, with dusky

patch-pocket jackets and shirts

  over the spring/summer catwalks,
  inspired by the return of Sir David
  Attenborough to our screens in
  A Life On Our Planet(out 9 April
  n Netflix). Of course, the only trekking we’re likely to do is across
  e office to the printer, but that’s OK – the safari-style top, whether
  shirt or jacket, is an easy staple for all occasions, cropping up in
  range of neutral shades and understated earthy tones, such as
  usky taupe, washed khaki and camel. It’s a crisp take on the
  tilitarian styles of last summer, with, importantly, patch-pockets.
  ‘It’s a great alternative to the white shirt you might ordinarily
  vest in,’ says Felicity Kay, ELLE’s fashion editor. ‘It’s easy and not
  s formal, and you can style it in multiple ways: leave your shirt
  pen and wear it as a casual jacket over a slip dress, or button it
  p and wear it with relaxed tailored trousers and Stan Smiths.
  ou’ll definitely get more than one season’s wear out of it.’
  If you’re looking to update your utility-inspired styles from last
  eason, accessories are an easy shortcut. Try a wide canvas belt
  with rectangular buckle. Style your safari-style jacket and shirt with
  matching lower-half in the earthy shades too: cargo pants or
  ailored ones with a crisp knife-pleat, as seen at Max Mara, or with
  patch-pocket midi-skirt, as seen on the runway of up-and-comer
  Rokh. And if you want to go the whole nine yards with safari style,
  add a touch of animal print, with zebra or tiger-striped accessories.
  Attenborough would be proud.
