atercolor artist Peggi Habets vividly remembers the first
time she was moved by a narrative in a painting. She was
tanding in front of a Francis Bacon diptych at a museum,
itially unphased and uncertain what all the fuss was about,
she kept looking. After studying the piece for 10 minutes,
thing changed. A story emerged from the painting, and
found that she was deeply moved and surprised. “It was a

experience for viewers of her own pieces: that they’ll be
drawn to her work from across a room and, when they stop to look more closely, they’ll
experience their own interpretation of the narrative. Habets’ paintings range in subject
matter, but at the core, each reflects the vibrant poignancy of experience and expression.
For graphic designer-turned-watercolor-artist Peggi Habets,
photos, composition and design are at the forefront of her
urbanscapes, dancers and fi gurative stories.
