“People who know me know I love animals, probably
even more than I like humans,” says Simon Bright. Three
years ago, Bright, who has worked with A-listers such as
Gwyneth Paltrow, made the decision to take a more
ethical approach to his practice. “With all the technology
we have today, it doesn’t seem right to test on animals
for the sake of beauty.” As a result, his Sydney-based
salon, Jonny + June, is entirely vegan: from the hair dye
(Bright favours Faction8 by Pulp Riot) to the cleaning
products. “I disagree when people say vegan formulas
don’t stand up to traditional products,” he says. “I think
